History (at least three paragraphs): Credit to http://www.uncannyxmen.net

Jean’s power first manifested at the age of ten when she read the mind of her best friend Annie Richardson, who was dying after being hit by a car. Jean felt the other mind slip away to death and nearly died with her. For three years, her parents asked many specialists to get Jean out of her catatonic state but only one, Charles Xavier, could help. He discovered that the girl was a mutant and not able to cope with her telepathy yet. So, he decided to mentally block her access to this ability, allowing it to evolve at a natural pace. Even though Jean stayed at her parent‘s home, she had many training sessions with Xavier, which technically makes her his first student (but not his first X-Man). Years later, when Xavier had already found other mutants in Cyclops, Iceman, Angel and the Beast, Jean officially enrolled at Xavier’s school and joined the X-Men under the codename Marvel Girl, due to her power of telekinesis. Only shortly afterwards, the team made its public debut, fighting Magneto. Very soon, Warren Worthington (Angel) started to show some personal interest in Jean but she secretly loved Cyclops. Scott too had feelings for her, but dared not show them since he was the team’s leader and could not fully control his optic beams.

After Jean officially graduated at Xavier’s school, her parents decided that she needed a college education and arranged for her to attend classes at Metro College. Fortunately, that wasn’t too far a distance and Jean spent the weekends at Xavier’s and also helped out fighting villains occasionally. At Metro college, Jean befriended a fellow student named Ted Roberts and, spending her time with him, Jean got over how much she missed being a part of the team. She even wondered if she could really live a life among normal humans as one of them. Ted confided in Jean that he was worried about his brother Ralph, and he was right to so, as the scientist had invented a malfunctioning battle-suit that affected his mind. Subsequently, he caused much destruction as the Cobalt Man. The X-Men managed to shut the suit off, though it seemed that Ted figured out that Jean and Marvel Girl were one and the same. Around the same time, Warren got together with Candy Southern, an old childhood friend, and stopped flirting with Jean. Scott and Jean’s behavior towards each other grew more relaxed and they officially started dating each other.

When Professor Xavier learned of an upcoming alien invasion, he hid in the mansion‘s basement to prepare against this attack in isolation. He had the former villain Changeling take his place and shared some of his telepathic power between him and Jean, reopening her mental blocks to her own telepathic powers. Jean was the only X-Man who knew of the exchange and, even after the Changeling died in the Professor’s place, Jean was forced to keep Xavier’s plan secret. In the wake of “Xavier’s“ death, the X-Men were ordered to disband by Federal Agent Duncan. Afterward, Jean started a short modeling career but she kept seeing Scott, who worked as a radio moderator, until the team reunited to fight Mesmero. Finally, when the Z’Nox were about to invade Earth, Professor X revealed himself and Jean could stop pretending. Together, the team succeeded in driving the aliens away from Earth and later they teamed up with the Fantastic Four to end the Z’Nox threat once and for all. During this space flight, Jean felt as if she was being watched and she was right. She was scanned by a universal Force. Many months later, after Xavier had recruited a new team of X-Men, most senior members left and so did Jean, who involuntarily found herself attracted to new member Wolverine. After risking her life time and again, Jean decided to explore a life outside the mansion and moved into an apartment with private investigator Misty Knight. Still, she became a very good friend of Storm and helped her adjust to civilized life in New York.

While out on a date with Scott, Jean was captured by a new version of Sentinels and taken to their orbital station. The X-Men followed and rescued their friend but the flight back was a problem, since the ship’s shielding was damaged; yet they had to pass cosmic radiation. Jean telepathically absorbed the knowledge to fly the ship and decided that she alone stood a chance by trying to filter out the radiation with a TK shield, while the rest of the team was in a shielded section of the shuttle. During the thirty minute flight, radiation passed through, poisoning and killing Jean as she was suddenly approached by the Phoenix Force, the same for that had scanned her some time ago. It offered to help Jean but not without a price. Left with no other choice, Jean accepted, ensuring the save return of the other X-Men. The Force duplicated Jean’s body, infused it with some of her essence, soul and life force and merged with it, while the original Jean was placed in a healing cocoon. Intoxicated with the rich experience of life, friendship and love, Phoenix was overwhelmed by this passionate life form. She denied her own consciousness and forced herself into totally believing to be the real and only Jean Grey. The shuttle crashed down in Jamaica Bay and Phoenix rose out of the wreckage, taking Jean’s place with the X-Men, while the cocoon sank to the ocean ground.

After Phoenix had sacrificed herself on the moon’s surface, the X-Men believed Jean Grey to be dead. With its mortal shell shattered, the Force tried to make up for the crimes it had committed in Jean’s name and sent the portion of herself it had “borrowed“ back to Earth - keyed to Jean’s genetic structure and instructed to awake her from the cocoon. Yet this portion arrived with nightmare visions of fire and destruction and Jean rejected it, so instead it entered and gave life and awareness to Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean created by the mysterious Mr. Sinister. Much later, the Avengers investigated a plane crash at Jamaica Bay and discovered the cocoon on the bay’s floor. Since they heard a telepathic voice and the cocoon was unleashing telekinetic waves, they took it with them. Mr. Fantastic probed the cocoon with bio-stimulators, the hull cracked and Jean emerged. Unfortunately, the probing had damaged Jean’s telepathy. After hearing that the X-Men were now led by Magneto and Xavier was gone, Jean contacted her former teammates (Beast, Iceman and Angel of the Defenders) and, together with Cyclops, they re-formed the original team as X-Factor. Jean also chose not to contact her family as she didn’t know how they would react to the shock of having their daughter and sister return from the dead. While the media believed them to be mutant hunters, X-Factor was only a front. Secretly, the original X-Men tried to find, train and help new mutants. To do so, they took on two roles: officially they were mutant hunters. But when necessary, they also took on the roles of the X-Terminators, masked mutants who seemed to be in opposition to X-Factor. All the time, Scott was acting distracted and Jean felt that he was keeping something secret. Not before long, she found out that, while she was believed dead, Scott had married Madelyne Pryor, a woman looking exactly like her. Scott even had a child with her.

A short time later, Jean saw her sister, Sara, on television. Sara Grey had become a spokeswoman for mutant rights and was commenting on the firebombing of an apartment that belonged to relatives of a mutant (Karma’s siblings, actually). Worrying about Sara, who still believed her sister to be dead, Jean and Cyclops visited her house, only to find it emptied of all personal effects and without any sign of the whereabouts of Sara and her family. They received a threatening phone call and moments later the place was firebombed. When Cyclops discovered evidence that Maddie had been killed, he was starting to have doubts if there really existed three different women (Jean, Maddie, Phoenix) or only one that kept resurrecting herself time and again. He accused Jean of being Phoenix and, to prove his point, he almost killed her by taking off his visor. Phoenix would have been able to keep his eye beams in check but plain Jean couldn’t. Fortunately, Leech cancelled Scott’s powers until he saw his error. Over time, Scott and Jean became closer again. However, during the Fall of Mutants a TV message was shown from Maddie, “dying“ along the X-Men in Dallas. Her last words were to her husband, to find their missing baby. Jean comforted Scott, who finally opened up to her and admitted to she and himself that he had married Madelyne Pryor mainly because she looked like Jean. The two of them restarted their relationship. The X-Men’s death made Jean think of others close to her and so she finally visited her parents to let them know she was alive.

Eventually, they tracked Scott’s son down to a secret lab below the same orphanage where Scott grew up in. Strangely, that orphanage was filled with mutant children. When they tried to free the baby, they were attacked by another group that also wanted to liberate the mutant children: A group of brainwashed mutant children led by Nanny, a crazy scientist, obsessed with the idea of saving young mutants, and her special charge, the powerful Orphanmaker. Jean recognized Sara’s children, Joey and Gaylin – her nephew and her niece, as part of Nanny’s army. During their battle, they couldn’t prevent demons from snatching the baby. Scott’s baby was brought to Madelyne, who had been corrupted by the demons S’ym and N’ astirh and, with the help of N‘astirh, had found a way to awaken her latent powers and now was called the Goblyn Queen. The demon was responsible for the Inferno incident and wanted her to sacrifice her own son to gain even more power. X-Factor managed to track them as Jean – despite having no telepathy to speak of – had formed an immediate psychic rapport with the child, as though he were her own. This was not too surprising, considering what they and Madelyne were soon to learn: Sinister had wanted Jean for her genetic potential but didn’t dare to abduct her when she was a child, due to her connection with Xavier. Therefore, he stole some of her DNA and created a clone - Madelyne who had been given life and awareness, via a portion of the Phoenix Force that had copied Jean’s personality patterns and memories. Sinister had then programmed Madelyne to fall in love with Scott Summers, as he wanted their potentially quite powerful offspring.

X-Factor ran into the X-Men – a meeting that proved tense, considering that the X-Men suffered from the demonic influence Manhattan was under and had been manipulated by Madelyne to believe that X-Factor were still mutant hunters. It didn’t help that a passionate kiss from Wolverine reminded Jean of her buried attraction towards him. The two teams fought until Jean and Storm confronted each other: the two best friends were happy that the other was alive and the two teams started working together against their true enemies, the demons. In order for both teams to compare notes, Psylocke telepathically linked with Jean thus briefly restoring Jean’s telepathy. This made Jean realize all the more how much she missed this aspect of her powers. Discovering that Madelyne was their true foe, if they wanted to save the baby and the world, X-Men and X-Factor fought her demons, while Jean and Madelyne eventually found themselves separated from the others in a telekinetic bubble. Having learned of her origins, Madelyne hated Jean so much that she killed herself and forced Jean into a mental bond to drag her down into death with her. In order to survive, Jean was forced to reintegrate the portion of soul, essence and life-force of herself that from Phoenix II had gone to Maddie, the portion which she had previously subconsciously rejected. Along with it she also got Madelyne’s and Phoenix’s memories and personalities too. Having barely had time to digest all that happened Jean found herself under a psychic attack by Mr. Sinister. Having lost the clone he now wanted the original. Therefore, he attempted to erase her memories while she was in a vulnerable state with the intention to later reprogram her in his image. With the help of Psylocke, Cyclops and Storm entered Jean’s mind and convinced her splintered personalities to fight back and drive him from her mind.

With Inferno over, X-Factor soon ran into Nanny and the Orphanmaker again, this time managing to free Jean’s nephew and niece. While the children were still unwilling to accept Jean, whom they were brainwashed into believing was her enemy, they did recognize their grandparents – Jean’s parents - and were left in their care. When X-Factor’s ship was transported to a war-torn planet that was about to be judged by the Celestials, the Phoenix personality took over triggered by the experience of soaring through space again. Maddie also resurfaced trying to force the body to commit suicide. For some time the three personalities switched back and forth, fighting for control and leaving Jean nigh catatonic, until Scott helped Jean to focus. X-Factor was able to unite the different races of the to-be-destroyed world and, while Jean acted as a vessel to all their souls, Cyclops became a lens to fire this energy at the Celestials. The Celestials left and Jean discovered that with the blast both personalities of Maddie and Phoenix had been purged. Only their memories remained like faded stories.

Back on Earth, Scott asked Jean to marry him but she refused. She felt that everyone took their eventually getting married for granted and having the memories of Scott proposing to Maddie and Phoenix did not help at all. To defend her right to make her own decisions, Jean turned Scott down. Jean found herself in a similar situation when she met Rachel during Days of Future Present. With this adult future daughter right before her eyes, she again she felt cheated of the chance to live her life herself and so she could not accept Rachel. Shortly before X-Factor rejoined the X-Men, in the wake of the Muir Island Saga, X-Factor found themselves under attack by the Dark Riders, agents of Apocalypse. One of their number, the telepath Psynapse, attacked Jean, mentally tortured her and rifled through her memories. In the process, he made Jean relive the death of her childhood friend, Annie. The traumatic event that had once before catalyzed her latent telepathic powers now did so again, allowing her to take Psynapse out. Back among the X-Men, Scott and Jean ended up on different strike forces. In one of her first missions among the “Gold Team,“ Jean was believed to have been killed by Sentinels, during their attack on the Hellions. She survived, however, by taking a very risky gamble and transferring her consciousness into the comatose body of fellow telepath Emma Frost. However, Jean needed the help of Charles Xavier to extricate her psyche from Frost’s body and return it to her own.

Over time, Jean came to realize that she really wanted to marry Scott. The first person she told this was Rachel, with whom Jean wanted to make up for not being able to accept her at first. Soon, after Jean‘s proposal to Scott, the couple got married at the Xavier estate. During their honeymoon, the consciousnesses of Scott and Jean were taken 2000 years into the future by an elderly Rachel (who had ended up there later, after entering the time stream). She needed their help to train baby Nathan Christopher, who had been infected with a techno-organic virus and sent to the future for a possible cure. The techno-organic virus was spreading and could only be held in check with telekinesis. Under the aliases of Redd and Slym, Jean and Scott raised the boy, who one day would become Cable, for twelve years, until the day that Rachel died of old age. Her last act was the request of Jean to take on the codename “Phoenix,“ since, to her, a lot of good was attached to the name and she wanted it restored. Then, the couple was sent back to their rightful bodies. During the Phalanx Covenant, the X-Men learned what Jean had long feared; that her sister Sara had been murdered by enemies of the X-Men. The mutant-hating, alien Phalanx, as it turned out, had assimilated Sara Grey. When the techno-organic collective was destroyed, the last remnants of Jean’s sister must have perished as well. When Magneto’s space station, Avalon, was under attack, Jean and Scott were teleported there by Amelia Voght to help. They came too late to prevent the destruction of the base but they helped to evacuate the Acolytes. Jean and Skids fell down to Earth and passed through the cosmic radiation belt (deja-vu to Uncanny X-Men #100); so far Jean hasn’t shown any after-effects so it has to be assumed that Skids‘ powers filtered out the cosmic rays.

The relationship that Jean shared with Scott seemed to take a turn for the worse shortly after, as another hurdle presented itself to the pair in the form of an apparent 'death' and later amnesia. She was killed on a mission with the X-Men, though they found her in Europe at a later time, though with no memories of her life, her past, all the things that held her close to the people she loved the most. While her husband tried to help her regain these memories, it was with one last moment spent together that he'd left her to assist the Massachusetts Academy and a long time thorn in Jean's side -- Emma Frost. With Scott being away, Jean's mind was seemingly taken over by the Phoenix Force. The cosmic entity served to fuel her desire for things in life that Jean herself would naturally not go for outside of her amnesiac episodes. After a mission in New York, alongside a few other of her team mates and her daughter Rachel, Jean Grey-Summers found herself seeking a bit of personal time with a man that she'd found her feelings growing for considerably -- Wolverine. With a heated discussion in the boathouse of the Mansion, and a heated kiss that had been shared between the two, Jean's memories came rushing back to her like a streaming river that was being fed from a large body of water. She'd remembered the things that she could not, but more importantly remembered who her husband was and why he'd only be the one for her and not Logan. The reaction was something of shock as she gave Logan one final hug, before she found herself flying off to Massachusetts and into the aftermath of a Sentinel battle, only to find Emma Frost in the arms of her husband, Scott Summers.

What is he/she doing now: Being a part of the X-Men team and Co-Headmistress of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters

Relationship with other characters: She is in love with Scott Summers, Wolverine she has shown potential interest in but the fact that she loves Scott has prevented her from taking these feelings further. She considers Professor Xavier as a father figure and Storm as her best friend. Even though Rachel Summers isn’t her “real” daughter she still treats her like her own and also with Cable even though he is her clone’s son.

Special feelings toward other characters: She has special feelings towards Scott Summers whom she loves dearly. She does carry a love interest towards Wolverine but she keeps it to herself.

How he/she reacts to other characters: She usually reacts to other people with complete kindness and politeness. She’s very nice and offers help whenever she can.

How other characters react toward him/her: Most people react towards her with the same kindness she does towards them however lately Scott has been acting a little cold towards her. Those who are against her are very rude towards her.

Extra info: If you need me to change the history of Jean being married to Scott and finding him with Emma I will. It’s hard to fit Jean in the Board without her being in love and married to Scott. I left it at the cliff hanger so whenever we get a Scott on the board it can be his choice to be with Jean, Emma or just single. :) Don’t want to god mod of Scott.

Make a post for your character here. We also request that this post, once the profile is accepted, to be your first post with your character on the forum itself: This is in reply to Logan's post if that's ok. :)

Jean could feel the fire rising inside her. The burning heat of the fire inside licking at her sides. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she made her way down the hall of Xavier’s mansion. The echo of her shoes hitting against the hard wood floor filled the air as she made her way towards Logan’s room. She felt her cheeks starting to get a little red and her heart beating faster. The repressed feelings she had towards him began to rise. She bit her lower lip trying to suppress them. She still felt it wasn’t right to act upon these actions even if she and Scott were having problems. By law they were still married and she felt she had to stay true to the “through better or for worse” and for him too. He was her husband still even if he was acting cold towards her. She was the type of person that would stick with a person through thick and thin and for Scott she was willing to do that and even go through and hell and back for him. She reached her destination, Logan’s door. She lightly tapped on the front door.

“Logan? It’s me… Jean…”

For a moment she held her breath. In a way she kind of wished that Logan wasn’t in his room but that was the down side of being a telepath she knew he was in his room and it wasn’t reading a person’s thoughts it was his psychic residue that she could detect. She waited a while and there was no answer. No opening of the door. Jean was starting to feel slightly rejected by it but she was at the same time being a little impatient by it. She pressed her ear against the door to her any movement… Nothing… She let another sigh and cleared her throat. She tapped on the door again and folded her arms over her chest.

“I know you’re in there. Please, open the door.”
