Name: Dawn Holbrook
Nickname/ Alias: Tempress
Race: Mutant, American
Age: 20 years
Height: 5’6”
Gender: Female
Job: Waitress at a small bar in the middle of New York.
Hero, Villain, or Civilian: Hero
Team: X-Men
Position: Tech Support. She’ll do anything that the team needs done… Not unless she strongly disagrees with a discussion.
Class: Middle class. She lives with the X-men but now that she’s older she wouldn’t mind living independently on her own. Between her job and the money her parents sends her every once in awhile she probably would be able to afford a very small apartment if she wanted to, but she has too many obligations to the X-Men that she isn’t even considering moving out of the mansion any time soon.
Body: Dawn is physically fit and stays in shape from training and playing soccer and other sports with the younger students at the mansion. She’s very flexible from her years of gymnastics as a child which makes it easier for her to do certain things that others might find to be more difficult. Her main concern is being able to defend and protect herself.
Appearance (at least a paragraph and a picture if he or she is an original comic book character): Dawn looks pretty much like any other girl her age. She doesn’t care much for keeping up with the latest fashion or having what everyone else has. She’s perfectly content with her own style and skin. She much prefers her blue jeans and a comfortable t-shirt when she’s not on missions or training for the X-men. Her dark brown hair can often be found framing her fair skin and light brown eyes only to reach the middle of her back. When doing certain activities like missions or training she’ll often wear her black leather suit which is pretty much standard for any X-men, along with her hair back in a braid to keep out of her face.
Special traits (describe each one): Her eyes often drastically change colors depending on her mood. They go from one extreme to another. When she’s happy or content they are light brown like the color of fresh honey would be and when she upset or angry they become very dark.
Skills: Dawn is very skilled when it comes to technology. She will constantly keep up to date with new and improved programs from anything to computers, planes (mainly the X-Jet), and almost any other electrical equipment.
Powers/Gift (at least a paragraph): Dawn can create, control, and manipulate fire and ice by increasing or decreasing her core body temperature. With her power she can shape flames or ice into any shape she desires, increasing or decreasing its temperature, intensity, and size. The degree and effectiveness of her powers relay on her concentration (which often get’s triggered by her emotions) and though the flames she create and manipulate don’t harm her, she can be harmed by any flame she doesn’t have mental control over.
Trustworthy: Yes
Personality type (a paragraph or two will do): Dawn is very much like the typical girl next door. She's very passionate about things she believes in and won’t give up easily on things if she believes they will help man kind in some way. She tries to see life through a positive outlook, knowing all things happen for a reason. Though sometimes it can be hard to see the beauty in everything Dawn tries because she hates it when she allows things to get her down easily.
Though she is a sweet girl she mostly keeps to herself, especially when she is concentrating on certain things like training and trying to figure out how to have better control over her powers. She tends to get distracted rather easily from things such as reading and writing and doesn’t end up paying much attention to anything else going on around, which could be good considering she’s lives in a mansion full of kids. Overall, she’s a very hard worker and won’t give anything up without a fighting chance or until her job is done.
Dawn usually always keeps her problems and worries to herself. She hates seeking help from friends or others because to her it feels like she is pushing all her burdens onto them and she doesn't want anyone to think that's what she is doing. She always tries to take care of things herself and if that doesn't work she sometimes tries to convince herself to live with it. She hides her problems behind her quirky personality, making things seem as if they are normal.
Attitude (A paragraph or two will do): Dawn’s attitude can be quite a bit sarcastic to say the least, but not exactly in a rude way. It’s her way of making a joke, though there are times when she uses sarcasms to show her annoyance. Dawn’s attitude is rather warm towards others especially when she meets people for the first time. She doesn’t believe in judging people until she actually get’s to know them, though there are a few people that rule doesn’t apply to, such as Magneto and the Brotherhood. In truth it doesn’t take a lot to piss Dawn off. Just talk badly or threatening anyone important to her and she’ll have no problem giving you a piece of her mind. Her temper is probably one of her biggest down fall. Once someone pisses her off she has a hard time letting it go and keeping her mouth shut. Other than that she’s rather open towards others and sometimes can be brutally honest which could either be a good or bad thing depending on the situation.
Is the character confident in his/herself: Yes
Wise: She’s learned a lot over the years, but she still has a long ways to go.
Caring: Yes, she cares very much about the people surrounding her such as friends and family. At the mansion she has taken it upon herself to attempt to cheer up any of the kids when they are down, especially the younger ones who are without parents. She honestly can't stand to see the people she loves hurt in any way, shape, or form. If she has intentionally ever emotionally hurt someone close to her it was probably only because she was trying to protect them for something.
Leader: She can be if it’s necessary, but she much prefers to be on the sidelines.
Brave: Yes. She’s bit of a risk taker.
Fears: Losing anyone close to her and them not knowing how much she really cares. Not finding a place in the world where she belongs. Losing control of her powers and causing harm to others.
Likes and dislikes: Dawn likes knowing that she’s a part of a team that consists of people that are like her (mutants) and they fight and defend something they strongly believe in. For once in her life she’s somewhere where she feels like she belongs. Dawn dislikes having to lie and being lied too, but if it can protect someone she’ll do it just for that reason. At this moment in time she really dislikes more like hate what she had done to Jacen.
Pass time: Reading, writing, playing with computers, and visiting her family.
Weapon of choice: None. She strictly uses her powers and fist as defense.
Pet: none
History (at least three paragraphs): Dawn had a relatively normal childhood growing up in a small town in New Jersey with what she would consider an average family. Her father did experimentally research for the Governments military and her mother was a teacher. Then she had her brother Aden who was five years older than her but despite their constant arguments and age difference they were extremely close.
Her life was rather mundane consisting of school, art projects, homework, and hanging out with friends, but that all changed when she turned 13. It was during a school camping trip when she discovered that something was different about herself. She was playing tag with some of her friends near the camp fire at night right before they were suppose to go to bed. Desperate not to get tagged she wasn’t paying attention where she was running and tripped over a large rock. She was falling toward the camp fire and the last thing she could remember was not wanting to burn to death. One of the chaperones was able to pull her out quickly but surprisingly enough she had no burns what so ever on herself or clothes. Not understanding what had happened everyone brushed it off as a miracle where as Dawn knew better.
It didn’t take her long to experiment at home by catching her hand on fire on purpose despite not knowing how to control it. Not long after her first discover she found out that what she could to fire she could do to ice. By the age of fifteen Dawn still kept her unusual abilities to herself scared that her family would disown her. Especially because her father worked for the military which publicly expressed their negative thoughts on mutants and by that time there was no doubt in her mind that she was in fact a mutant.
It was when she was about to turn sixteen when Professor Charles Xavier showed up at her house and explained to her parents what she was too afraid to tell them since she was 13. Though it did shock them in the beginning they were able to understand especially after Dawn showed them what she was capable of. It was harder for her brother older brother to understand especially since she had powers and he didn’t. He was also upset that his sister didn’t trust him enough to tell him. Her father since then quit working for the military in order to protect his daughter from being exposed.
It was after that meeting with Professor Xavier that she was sent to his school for the gifted. It wasn’t long after her arrival that she had met Jacen Sketch in the Danger Room. Quickly they formed a friendship that didn’t take long to become more, especially after being through so much together. Fighting against sentinels, witnessing Jacen receive a large scar across his face and saving Jenifer, Jacen’s younger sister, from their abusive parents in Texas.
After a few years and a certain disregard for certain rules the two were offered a position on the X team. Knowing that she had good control over her powers she felt comfortable accepting the offer, especially since she knew she would be able to make a difference in the world and help people… Though most of those people think mutants should be locked up. Finally for the first time in her life she felt as if she actually belonged somewhere and she was surrounded by people she could relate to.
Then unfortunately when everything to seem to be going right something within the X-team caused a lot of confusion and anger. Jacen Sketch, Dawn’s boyfriend at the time, had destroyed a whole city single handed. Surprisingly the others had immediately assumed that Jacen had actually done it even though he was a trusted member of the team. What was even more annoying to Dawn was that they really doubted Jacen’s true character and deep down she knew he didn’t do it.
Upon hearing the others talk about removing him from the team she went to discuss the matter with Professor Charles Xavier, knowing that he would sort things out or at least she had hoped. “Professor, this is completely out of control and proportion!” Dawn informed the man in the wheel chair as she stormed into his office. “If it had been Scott or Storm this whole situation would have been resolved already!” Of course she hadn’t meant to yell at the professor but she couldn’t help it. “You don’t honestly believe he did it, do you?”
“No… I don’t, Dawn.” The Professor replied calmly as he wheeled closer to her. “But I do feel it’s best if Jacen was to take a break from the X-Men.” He began to explain. “I believe he was under mind control and that is a great deal of power to be under. You don’t remember anything and even though you had no control over anything you can still feel guilty over your actions.” Dawn frowned not believing what the professor was saying. “Answers are best found by yourself.”
“Yes, that makes a lot of sense! Disown your friends just because they were mind controlled!” Dawn retorted sarcastically. Her eyes scanned the room as she tried to calm herself down. After a few moments of complete silence she slowly spoke up. “You’re my mentor and I completely trust your judgment, Professor. I just want what’s best for Jacen and if you think that’s it then so be it…” She said with a sad and frustrated sigh. “Jenifer is going to take this hard.” She muttered as turned around and walked out of the office slowly.
Knowing what she had to do, that night she wrote a letter to Jacen stating that she didn’t want to be with him anymore because of the way he had treated her when she had tried talking to him when he was locked up in the cell in the mansion. He had snapped at her saying that she probably thought he was a betrayer too, but that wasn’t the case. Luckily, she was able to use that as her excuse. She had someone deliver the letter being that she knew she wouldn’t be able to face him after that. Since then she hasn’t quite been herself and can’t help but feel guilty. She’s been trying to watch over Jenifer, Jacen’s fourteen year old sister, and makes sure that she’s doing ok and helping her with anything she might need.
What is he/she doing now: She’s working as an X-man and working as a waitress at a bar in New York. She’s just trying to put her life back in to order after the incident.
Relationship with other characters: Dawn is friends pretty much with all her fellow team mates and the students at Xavier’s school. She’s close to Jenifer Sketch, and looks to her as a younger sister. She was also once close to Jacen, but since they broke up she hasn’t talk to him.
Special feelings toward other characters: Dawn is close to Jenifer and tries to be a big sister to her. She’s just trying to support and protect her as she’s learning more of her powers just like Jacen would do if he was at the mansion, though she’s not trying to replace him by any means.
Even though she broke up with him she still cares a lot about Jacen and even sometimes worries about him being that he was kicked out of the mansion, luckily she knows that the Professor keeps tabs on him using Cerebro.
How he/she reacts to other characters: Dawn is rather calm and leveled headed when dealing with people she knows and is close to. She doesn’t always like to be serious about everything, so she likes to joke around once in awhile with others. Though most of the time she friendly and easy going, it’s not hard to piss her off. Disrespect and/or threatening anyone close to her will result in her giving that person a piece of her mind.
How other characters react toward him/her: Most that know her know that she’s easy going and easy to talk too. Her friendly approach seems to put most people when she first meets them, not unless she in a bad mood that day otherwise she can be more closed up and not willingly to get to know someone and people tend to think she’s shy.

Dawn let out a small sigh as she sat down at an empty table in the very empty bar. She offered to work the night shift thinking that it would be more busy being that New York was ‘The City that Never Sleeps,’ but apparently that wasn’t the case that night. It was only her and a few other waitresses currently occupying the small but cozy bar.
Having nothing to do at the moment she gave into her boredom and slid the small tea-light candle resting in the middle of the wooden table to her using her index finger with little interest. Quickly looking around she made sure no one was watching as she held her hand above the flame. Slowly she closed her fist only to catch the hot burning flame in her hand. Using her free hand she pushed some of her long hair out of her eyes as she began to open her other hand to reveal the small flame dancing wildly across her palm. “So much for getting more tips to night…” Dawn whispered quietly to herself as she got lost staring at the light her hand was providing. With a sigh of boredom she blew the small flame out before anyone could see what she was doing.
“Hey, I’m going to head home with some of the others… You’ll be ok by yourself?” One of the other waitresses, Sam, asked from behind her.
Turning around to look at her Dawn nodded her head with a shrug. “It’s not like we’re booming with business. Go ahead I’ll be fine.” She reassured before she stood up and grabbed a wash rag to clean some of the tables. “I’ll just make some rounds and close the shop if nobody pops in after awhile.” And with that she gave a small wave as the others left.
